Barbera d'Asti DOCG Superiore

It is by far the main Piedmont grape of red berry. On its origin and on its seniority nothing can be said for sure; the historical information dates back the end of the eighteenth century. Everything points to the fact that his homeland should be looked for in the Dukedom of Monferrato. It is therefore nice to assume that it was born spontaneously from some older local vine. It has a medium-sized pyramid clusters, medium-large berry, pruinose peel of blue-black color.

This Barbera is obtained through a careful selection of grapes off the best exposed vineyards and a “green” early harvest, produced only in exceptional vintages. This very pure Barbera is born from a careful selection in vintage and it is one of the top wines of the company. After vinification, it is matured in wooden barrels, in the manner of the “big reds”, for about six months, and subsequently bottled. The few bottles produced rest still for another 6 months before appearing on the tables, with the intensity and harmony that only the great wines from Asti can have. Its wide scent, with notes of rose and vanilla, with a harmonious, intense and persistent flavor, make it perfect for accompanying roasts, braised game and seasoned cheeses.
